Thank You for the Upgrade!

Bookmark and Share

Hurray, Dojo Learning is growing! That means we are working towards building a better company that offers improved services and tools.

The upgrade this weekend means several behind-the-scenes improvements that make Dojo a more reliable service than ever. Specifically, these include:

Hardware virtualization, which means a smooth path for future growth as well as protection from common hardware failures.
A completely revamped backup system that is much more reliable than the old one.
Improvements to our outbound email setup, ensuring messages get through to you and your learners.

Minor bug fixes that resolve an issue some customers have reported with our custom themes.

These changes have laid out a strong foundation for future growth of Dojo Learning as well as the basic building blocks for several upcoming new features. We are seeing more activity and more interest in Dojo Learning which is good news for us and you, our customer. We want to grow our company as naturally as we can, and it's happening.

We are also feverishly working on changes to our services based on direct feedback. We know that our customers know what they want and we can't wait to start showing off the many big changes we have coming this year.

Thank you and your learners for helping us grow.

Scheduled site maintenance this Saturday, January 17th

Bookmark and Share

Just letting everyone know that we will be doing some site maintenance this coming Saturday, January 17th starting around 11:00 A.M. Central Standard Time (CST). The site will still be accessible throughout the maintenance, but certain features will be disabled for up to 24 hours while we wait for some DNS changes to propagate across the internet. Those features include:
  • New member and learner sign-ups
  • Creating and editing lessons
  • Chatting and posting to lesson lounges
  • Notes, journal entries and journal comments
This is a one-time change that will help ensure we can continue to scale the Dojo Learning platform to meet our site growth needs for some time to come. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us.

We've been working hard this summer to improve Dojo Learning.  We are making a major upgrade October 1st, 2008.  We've developed a Facebook Application, an API, added Social Network features, and have made user interface upgrades.  Stay tuned for more details as we approach our launch day.

It (officially) begins!

Tonight we have officially begun launching Dojo Learning to the public. We just sent out our press release to all the Canadian sources we could, and we'll be doing additional releases online and internationally soon too. Here's an online copy of the press release as well:

Our first public milestone

Last night, we finished everything we needed to for the series of demos Les is doing this week (and the one I'm giving this Thursday eve too!), and what a great feeling it was to have made that milestone.  Looking over the time line from this week, it's really hitting home that we're almost there:
  • Wednesday: Finalized the design of our business cards and postcard handouts for the upcoming presentations.  Sent those off to the printers.
  • Thursday: Got a fully running site up at long last (closed invite for a few weeks, sorry folks!).
  • Friday: Got the business cards back and man are they slick!  Celebrated with a nice bottle of wine and even handed a few cards out later that evening :)
  • Saturday: Lots of minor tweaking in preparation for the upcoming presentations.
  • Sunday: Les's intro video is now up on the site, and it's unbelievably awesome!
Looking forward, this week alone Dojo will be seen by hundreds of people over the course of our presentations, I'll also be ironing out a few little issues with the live site and putting some thought into a few of our new feature ideas as well.  We're also starting to formalize our launch marketing strategy now as well, which will be really fun.  I can't wait to see what the general public reaction is.  If it's anything close to what the reaction has been so far, it should be pretty positive.
